Park Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) 4201 Brook Road in Richmond, Virginia |
On May 22, 1921, a new Christian Church was organized in Richmond at a meeting at George Thorpe School, with a charter membership of one hundred and four members. The Sunday School was organized on May 28, 1921, having a membership of 91. On February 5, 1922, a church building for the congregation was dedicated. The church was named Battery Park because there was a battery located in this section of town during the War Between the States. The property which the church acquired was also contiguous to the city park of that name.

On December 18, 1948, the cornerstone was laid for a new church building at the corner of Brook Road and Bellevue Avenue. The new Battery Park Christian Church building was dedicated on December 11, 1949.
