Children's Ministry

Did you know that a person learns more, grows more, and changes more in the first seven years of life than at any other time? That is why children's ministry is so important at Battery Park Christian Church.

128 The Nursery (birth-age 3) is just the beginning stage of spiritual development for your little one. We offer a loving, peaceful, and safe environment designed to care for and nurture children from birth through toddler. The nursery room is designed to meet your child’s needs. We start our nursery every Sunday from 9:30am till 12:15pm.

Parents are recommended to bring a diaper bag and bottle, both labeled with your child’s name. Please feel welcome to bring any comfort items your child might have such as a blanket or favorite toy. You will also want to bring a change of clothes for your child just in case it is needed. While your little one enjoys a warm caring atmosphere, we invite the young parents to enjoy fellowship and Bible discussion with the Noah Class.

The Church-School is for ages 4- 6. 122

Children are introduced to the Christian faith through age-specific hands-on activities and learning experiences. We have theme based activities to enrich the hearts and minds of these children. While your child is enjoying an enriched educational experience, we invite the parents and families to join us for a meaningful worship experience in the sanctuary. We hold our Church-School every Sunday from 11am till 12:15pm.

130 Your child's safety is of utmost concern to us, and we take great care to make sure our buildings and classrooms are safe and secure. Our nursery workers and Sunday School teachers are trained and caring people who offer personal, one-on-one relationship building experiences. Parents of nursery children are provided with a beeper if the nursery worker needs to contact the child’s parents.

Sunday School

We want to provide your child with a safe, fun, and Christ-like environment.  We work alongside parents to help them guide the spiritual growth of their children.

Sunday school classes are provided for children from Pre-K - 5th grades. Because children are active learners, our experienced teachers provide age-appropriate, Biblically based activities that are both fun and challenging. The Children’s classes are divided into two zones between 9:30-11:00 a.m.

  • Pre-K to 1st Grade: The class takes the kids on an adventure each week that is not only fun but one where they will encounter Christ along the way. We take your kids through the Bible in their time with us. Your child is introduced to basic Bible stories, and characters through creative learning.  The teachers use music, arts, crafts, drama, games, theme videos and team activities to encourage day today Bible application and Christian values. The curriculum is set to include age-appropriate activities/materials designed to help children grow spiritually, mentally, physically and emotionally, develop language, reading, and motor skills through creative Bible study.
  • 2nd Grade – 5th Grade: Church is a fun place where kids want to be! We go through the Bible a second time with in-depth study and help them realize their own personal faith and belief in God. The children discuss family, school and healthy relationship values. Children are provided with a comfort level to talk about their questions, and day to day challenges in a relaxed setting.

127 Through caring Christian teachers, our elementary age children participate in Bible Study, church missions, music groups, Vacation Bible School, home fellowships, social parties, family movie evenings, and other activities throughout the year.  All of theses activities provide a foundation of Christian beliefs which will last a lifetime. The Pastor’s Class provides the opportunity for older elementary children to understand God, Jesus, church, missions, worship, Christian conversion, and Christian living as they move towards baptism and Christian maturity.
