Battery Park Ministries

This is the longest section of our website because most of what we're about is "ministry", and it can take many forms.

CWF stands for Christian Women's Fellowship, a group which is not discriminatory, as they accept the help from men, too!  This organization within most Disciples congregations is vital to world missions, as they learn and contribute to various charitable causes.  They have fun together working for a better church, community and world.

CHURCH IN SOCIETY is our outreach ministry to the local community.  Read this page to see how active we are in helping others as Christ has asked us to do.

EVANGELISM is bringing the message of Christ to others.

MEMBERSHIP gives you an idea what that department of the church does within our own congregation.

MUSIC is a vital part of our worship experience.  Battery Park has a small choir with a big presence.  We bring in other musicians often to enhance our preferences for a diverse musical program.

A lot of people, unfortunately, only connect with the church through the PASTORAL SERVICES of weddings and funerals.  Our minister, Dr. Blake, does a magnificent job of both, as well as counseling and providing other services not related to the Sunday morning worship.

The elders of our church take on the program of SHEPHERDING the flock, a reference to Jesus being the Good Shepherd.  We look out for each other's well being, both physical and spiritual.

We wish it were not so, but our church cannot keep its doors open without the generosity of its members.  The STEWARDSHIP Department takes on the important role of reminding us about our financial obligations.

WORLD OUTREACH is the department that lets all the church members know of special funds available to help others around the world.  Monies collected go to hundreds of countries and people who need to feel the love of God in their communities.  Through these funds, we can send aid to those whose lives have been devastated by natural or manmade disasters.

The final path on our Ministries page takes you to WORSHIP, and explains something about the style of our services on Sundays.  Our lives are lifted to God through the experience of worshiping with fellow members of the body of Christ.  We hope you'll join us this week at 11 a.m. on Sunday morning.
