Church Music, Senior Choir & Children Choir
Paul, the Apostle, urges Christians to "Sing psalms, hymns, and sacred songs; sing to God with thanksgiving in your hearts." (Colossians 3:16) The great church reformer, Martin Luther, called music "one of the most beautiful and lordly gifts of God."
Battery Park Church takes very seriously these words regarding music. Our major emphasis is upon the singing of the congregation on Sunday mornings. Our musical instruments, mainly organ and piano, but occasionally additional instruments, and our choir exist to lead in corporate worship. We do not think of either instruments or choir as performers before a passive audience, but rather as musical leaders, who draw the rest of us actively into the text and the tunes. Often, the minister says a few words about the composer and the nature of the music before it is played and sung.
So, our first invitation to you is to come and join in the spirited congregational singing, and bring any instruments that you have to accompany that music. If you are interested in singing in the choir, which practices on Thursday evenings, contact our choirmaster, Rob Peterman, at 840-377-0475.
Children Choir @ Battery Park Christian Church
The Children's Chorus is a place where children come to lead praise & worship. From ages 3-10, children gather together to prepare, practice, and praise God during the Sunday morning worship service through hard work, dedication, and passion. We strongly encourage parents to work with the children at home.
Our children's choirs are designed for children to express their faith through a musical experienc e! T he children meet with Moses at 10:15am (right after Sunday School) to practice every 4th Sunday.
The children's choirs are an extension of Christian education. Christian character is taugh t and developed through participation in
the Children’s Choir Program. We at Battery Park Christian Church believe that we have a God given responsibility along with parents to, ‘Train up a child in the way they sh ould go, and when they are old, they will not depart from it.’ (Proverbs 22:6) We at Battery Park Christian Church also believe that we have the responsibility to help lay a spiritually solid foundation in which children can grow into their own faith. One of the ways we do this is through our Children’s Music and Worship Ministries. We welcome all children to come and be part of our choir.
