Pastoral Services
The word "pastor" comes from the Latin word for "shepherd." Shepherds care for their sheep. It is this figurative language that reflects the church's care for the sheep -- including not only its members, but all who come to its doors and beyond, as it is able.
One usually thinks of "pastoral services" being performed by "the pastor," and it is true that such services engage much of the pastor's time. He counsels, consoles, guides, blesses, weds, buries and makes decisions about food distribution and small material needs. But we like to think that our church, as a whole, offers "pastoral services" to its members and the community.
Some of these services, such as CARITAS, Adult Homes Ministry, Vacation Bible School, etc., are performed in concert with other area churches. Dr. Blake holds regular office hours on Mondays and Wednesdays, and will arrange meetings at other times by appointment.
