Shepherding Program
Why?
In Acts 20:28 are the solemn words of the Apostle Paul to the Elders of the Church:“So keep watch over yourselves and over all the flock which the Holy Spirit has placed in your care. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he made his own through the sacrificial death of his Son.” (GNB)
What?
Battery Park Church’s Elders (“shepherds” or “overseers,”) take seriously this urging of the great Apostle. Each of the church’s eight elders is responsible to look out for, stay in contact with, tend to the needs of, and, where and when it is appropriate, inform the whole church of events in the lives of those on their lists.
How we care?
Lists of the elders, with names of those in their care, are available to all members and friends. People on the lists are urged to contact their “Elder-Shepherd” about matters that concern them. New members of the church are placed under the care of one of the Elders. The hope in the shepherding program is that the church will serve the various needs of its people.
